Three weeks done. Another week of tears (mine) and stickers and chocolate. Still feeling grateful for all the support.
When I got home this afternoon, Adriano had arranged a mini treasure hunt for me and a card to say well done for completing another week. How cute is that? I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!
Then we rushed in opposite directions: he to a night out with old schoolfriends in London, me to a night of bingo.
Yep, you read that right. I went out to bingo with a bunch of teachers, and was home by 9.50pm. I am the business.
As I didn't win, I guess I'll have to go back to work on Monday.
It was hilarious: I felt like I was trapped in an episode of Phoenix Nights. As we left one lady croaked at the top of her voice "antibiotics can sometimes give you diarrhoea".
Today I taught the difference between there, they're and their; equilateral and isosceles triangles; pilgrimage to Mecca; and (supposedly) how to sit and listen to others' opinions. One kid, aged 8, told me earnestly that he wasn't allowed to use the red pencil to colour in "because red is the colour of the devil". Um, ok, how about the green one then.
My beautiful niece is 13 today. Happy Birthday my lovely!

ZZZZzzzzzz
I'm watching The IT Crowd and trying to keep my eyes open.
I have survived my second full week of teaching.
It involved support from lovely people, tears, huge bars of whole nut chocolate, and stickers. It's amazing what they'll do for a sticker.
Happy weekend!

Question of the day
Should someone who counts the book 'The Teenage Liberation Handbook' as a favourite really be a teacher?
I don't feel like I'm being real. How can I avoid shouting at the kids in the afternoons? I hate school; what am I doing there? What's going on?!
I've had a lovely weekend. Lots of walking by the Thames, meals out, and a bit of shopping. Lots of close time hanging out with Adriano. We are doing so well lately, and I'm so much more at peace with how things are between us. It's beautiful.

More gratitude
I'm taking Cheerful One's advice and am enjoying relaxing today. I'm determined to do no school stuff at the weekends. It's bad enough having no life during the week so I mustn't let that bleed over to Sat and Sun too. I have lots of people rooting for me, and it was only the first full week. It will get easier, they all say.
It's a gorgeous September day today. I'm enjoying my morning, pottering about the house, and the garden (and trying not to see the jobs-to-do mounting up).

Gratitude
It would be very easy for me to write a long moany post about how this new job is making me cry. However, instead here is my 'grateful five':
1. It's the weekend!
2. Adriano's back is not as painful as yesterday.
3. My colleague R has been really supportive and lovely this week (and always).
4. I enjoyed swimming and cycling this week.
5. My auntie's operation went OK.
